Annual Poetry Contest "Unexpected Encounters" In-Person

28th Annual John Gardiner Community Poetry Contest "Unexpected Encounters"

Entries accepted April 1-30, 2026

Prizes up to $150 Gift Certificates will be awarded in five age categories.

Submit 1 unpublished poem with theme: Unexpected Encounters. Poem must be no more than 25 lines of text with a limit of 230 words. Submit your poem within the body of an email to Laguna Beach Library at ocpl.lagunabeach@occr.ocgov.com. Include the following information: Name, Phone Number & Grade Level or “Adult”. No attachments, please.

Entrants' names will not be revealed to the contest judges.
