Afternoon at the Movies - A League of Their Own In-Person
This 1992 film, directed by Penny Marshall, was based on a true story about the All American Girl’s Professional Baseball League, which was established during WWII to make up for all the male baseball players who were fighting in the war. It became the most successful Baseball film, beating out “Bull Durham”, “Field of Dreams” and “The Natural”. Debra Winger was originally cast in the part that Geena Davis plays but she dropped out after Madonna was cast. All the actresses had to tryout for the film by showing that they could play baseball.
Learn about these interesting facts and many more from the movie guy as we talk about “A League of Their Own” starring Geena Davis and Tom Hanks and then show the movie.
